Enabling AFib History

By enabling AFib History in Apple Health, your watch will collect more frequent HRV measurements. Even if you aren’t diagnosed with AFib, turning on AFib History increases heart rhythm monitoring, resulting in more HRV data.

How to Enable AFib History

  1. Open the Health app on your iPhone.
  2. Go to Browse > Heart > AFib History.
  3. Tap Set Up and follow the instructions.

Please note that with AFib History enabled, real-time irregular rhythm notifications are turned off. Instead, you’ll receive weekly alerts every Monday, showing the percentage of time your heart exhibited AFib over the past week. The percentage will never display as 0% — if no AFib is detected, it will show as 2% or less.

In short, it's a hack to get your watch to sample A LOT more HRV.
