Workout Suggestions
Athlytic’s Workout Suggestions provide personalized exercise recommendations based on your Target Exertion and workout history.
How Workout Suggestions Are Generated
When you tap on Exertion, you will see Athlytic’s Workout Suggestions. These are generated each morning after your Recovery and sleep data have been processed.
Athlytic then looks at your workout history in Apple Health and selects workouts where:
- The average Effort matches your Target Exertion range.
- The duration of the workout fits within the expected Exertion for the day.
Example: How Athlytic Selects a Suggested Workout
- If your Target Exertion Range is 5.0 to 7.0,
- And your average Effort for a 1-hour Functional Fitness Training workout is 6.0,
- Then Athlytic will suggest this workout, since it fits within your Target Exertion.
The workouts you see listed first are those you do most frequently. You can tap “See More” to view additional workouts that fit your Exertion goals.
Athlytic is also smart about seasonality—it won’t suggest cross-country skiing in the summer!
What If There Are No Workouts That Fit Your Target Exertion?
If no workouts in your history fit within your Target Exertion range, Athlytic will:
✔️ Suggest more generic workouts based on your Max HR and effort levels.
✔️ Recommend a combination of exercises to reach your Target Exertion (e.g., two 30-minute high-intensity workouts to hit an Exertion of 8.0).
What If I Never See Workout Suggestions Based on My History?
If you never see specific workout suggestions tailored to your workout history, ensure Background Tasks are enabled:
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap General → Background App Refresh.
- Ensure Athlytic is turned on for Background App Refresh.
How Workout Suggestions Adapt Throughout the Day
- Before you work out, Athlytic suggests a full workout that fits your Target Exertion.
- After you complete a workout, Athlytic updates your suggestions based on how much Exertion remains.
- If you are still below your Target Exertion, Athlytic will suggest additional workouts to help you reach the Target Minimum.
- If you have already hit your Target Exertion range for the day, you will not see any more Workout Suggestions.
If you set your Training Goal to “Injured” or “Resting,” Workout Suggestions will not appear.
If none of these troubleshooting steps resolve the issue, consider reaching out to Athlytic support for further assistance.
