Using Strava With Athlytic
Why Isn’t Strava Data Showing in Athlytic?
Many Athlytic users experience issues when syncing Strava workouts to Apple Health. While Strava does save workout type, start time, and end time, it often does not properly sync heart rate data to Apple Health. Since Athlytic pulls all workout data from Apple Health, missing heart rate data means Exertion and Effort will not be calculated correctly.
This is a known issue with Strava’s Apple Health integration and is widely reported.
Most of the time there is a delay in when Strava writes their heart rate data to Apple Health. You can try clearing the exertion cache and if the data is in Apple Health, Athlytic will update with this data.
If Strava is not syncing heart rate data to Apple Health, follow these steps to fix it:
Solution 1: Use RunGap to Properly Sync Strava to Apple Health
A popular workaround is using RunGap, an app that acts as a bridge between Strava and Apple Health. RunGap ensures that HR data is properly written into Apple Health, which then allows Athlytic to process it correctly.
Steps to Set Up RunGap for Strava Syncing:
- Download RunGap from the App Store.
- Set up RunGap to pull workouts from Strava and push them to Apple Health.
- In Apple Health, remove any previous incomplete Strava workouts that are missing HR data.
- Open RunGap and resync workouts from Strava to Apple Health.
- Open Athlytic, go to the More tab, and clear/resync Exertion Cache.
- Force quit and reopen Athlytic—your Exertion and Effort should now appear correctly.
Important: RunGap is a subscription-based app, but currently, there are no other reliable solutions for fixing Strava’s HR sync issues.

Ensure Strava Does Not Write Directly to Apple Health
Some users have reported that if both Strava and RunGap are writing to Apple Health, it may cause conflicts.
- Go to Apple Health → Tap your profile icon (top right).
- Tap Apps → Select Strava.
- Turn OFF “Write” permissions for Workouts and Heart Rate.
Now, RunGap will be the only app writing Strava workout data to Apple Health, ensuring it syncs properly with Athlytic.
Solution 2: Use the Apple Workouts App & Sync to Strava
Apple Workouts (Fitness app) automatically saves heart rate data correctly to Apple Health. You can then sync workouts to Strava instead of using Strava to record the activity.
- Use Apple’s Workouts app to record workouts.
- Set up Strava to import workouts from Apple Health (instead of the other way around).
- Strava will receive the correct HR data, and Apple Health will have everything Athlytic needs.
This method is preferred because Apple Health remains the primary source of workout data, avoiding sync issues.
Solution 3: Use HealthFit to Sync Apple Workouts to Strava
Another reliable option is using HealthFit, an app that seamlessly syncs Apple Workouts to Strava while keeping data in Apple Health intact.
- Download HealthFit from the App Store.
- Allow HealthFit to read your Apple Health workout data.
- Set HealthFit to sync workouts to Strava automatically.
This ensures accurate HR data is stored in Apple Health while also syncing workouts to Strava.

Clear/Resync your Exertion Cache in Athlytic
Some fitness apps and wearables, like Strava, may have a delay before writing data to Apple Health.
If you just completed a workout but see 0 Exertion in Athlytic, follow these steps:
- Wait at least an hour after finishing your workout.
- Open Apple Health and check if the HR data has appeared (follow the steps above).
- Open Athlytic → More tab → Clear/Resync Exertion Cache.
- Force quit and reopen Athlytic—your Exertion and Effort should now update correctly.
If the HR data is now in Apple Health, it will sync with Athlytic.
If none of these troubleshooting steps resolve the issue, consider reaching out to Athlytic support for further assistance.
