Why am I not getting notifications on time?
If you’re experiencing delays or missing notifications from Athlytic, the timing of notifications depends on several factors, including app settings, background app refresh permissions, and Apple’s background task management.
Step 1: Check Notification Settings in Athlytic
- Open Athlytic.
- Go to More tab → Notifications.
- Ensure that the top switch is ON.
- Verify that each notification you want to receive is enabled.
If notifications are turned off here, they won’t be sent at all.
Step 2: Enable Background App Refresh
Athlytic requires background tasks to schedule notifications. If Background App Refresh is off, notifications may be delayed or missed.
How to Turn On Background App Refresh:
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap General → Background App Refresh.
- Make sure Background App Refresh is ON at the top.
- Scroll down and ensure Athlytic is toggled ON.
Apple’s Background Task Limitations
Apple limits the amount of background time each app gets, meaning Athlytic competes with other apps to run its tasks.
✔️ For the best notification performance:
- Reduce the number of apps with Background App Refresh enabled.
- Disable Background App Refresh for apps you don’t need.
- Go to Settings → General → Background App Refresh and turn off apps that don’t require frequent updates.
This helps Athlytic get more background processing time, improving notification accuracy.
Specific Notification Timing Considerations
Target Bedtime Notification:
- If you go to bed before the notification is scheduled to appear, you may see it the next morning instead.
Morning & Recovery Notifications:
- Athlytic competes with other apps for background task execution after you wake up.
- The more apps that run tasks upon waking, the more likely there will be a delay.
