How Does Sleep Debt Work in Athlytic?

Sleep Debt in Athlytic is a rolling 14-day calculation that tracks your cumulative sleep deficit over the past two weeks. It helps you understand how well you’re keeping up with your sleep needs over time.

How Sleep Debt is Calculated

  1. Athlytic analyzes your sleep for the past 14 days and calculates how much sleep you were missing (or gaining) relative to your sleep needs.
  2. Each day, the oldest day in your 14-day window drops off, and the latest night’s sleep is added.
  3. If a good sleep day from 14 days ago is removed and replaced with a poor sleep night, your Sleep Debt will increase.
  4. Conversely, if you replace a poor sleep night from 14 days ago with a great night of sleep, your Sleep Debt will decrease.

Example:

  • If you had an extra hour of sleep 14 days ago but lost an hour last night, your Sleep Debt will likely increase tomorrow as that well-rested day drops off.
  • If you gradually get more sleep over time, you will see your Sleep Debt decrease.
