Can I Change My Sleep Goal in Athlytic?

Rather than a manually adjustable sleep goal, Athlytic dynamically calculates your Target Sleep based on multiple factors to optimize your recovery.

How Target Sleep Is Calculated

Athlytic determines your Target Sleep using the following key factors:

✔️ Your Recovery & Exertion levels for the day

✔️ Last night’s sleep duration

✔️ Your current Sleep Debt (rolling 14-day total)

✔️ Your Training Goal setting in the More tab

Since Target Sleep adjusts based on your body’s actual recovery needs, it is designed to be adaptive rather than a fixed goal.

How to Customize Sleep Settings in Athlytic

While you cannot manually set a sleep goal, you can adjust your Sleep Debt Threshold, which impacts your Target Sleep recommendations.

To adjust Sleep Debt Threshold:

  1. Open Athlytic.
  2. Go to More tab → Sleep Preferences.
  3. Modify the Sleep Debt Threshold to increase or decrease how sensitive Target Sleep is to accumulated sleep loss.

Additionally, your Training Goal setting affects Target Sleep:

  • Higher Training Goal (e.g., Peak or Aggressive Training)Increases Target Sleep to promote recovery.
  • Lower Training Goal (e.g., Maintaining or Recovering)Decreases Target Sleep as your body requires less rest.

By adjusting your Training Goal, you can indirectly influence your Target Sleep recommendations.

Why Doesn’t Athlytic Let You Manually Set a Sleep Goal?

Unlike other apps that use a static sleep goal, Athlytic takes a data-driven approach by adapting sleep targets based on your actual recovery needs and activity levels.

Additionally, Apple does not expose the sleep goal in Apple Health to developers, meaning third-party apps cannot directly access or modify a fixed sleep goal.
