Language Support and Translations in Athlytic
Localizing an app is a major task, especially for a small team. While full localization isn’t yet feasible, Athlytic supports in-app translation using Apple’s Translation API, making it more accessible to non-English speakers.
Translation of Athlytic’s In-App Coaching Text
If your phone’s default language is set to something other than English, a translation button will appear next to the coaching text in Athlytic. Once selected, you can choose from 20 different languages to translate the text.
Automatic Translations for Info Cards
All info cards at the bottom of each section in Athlytic will automatically translate based on your iPhone’s selected language if it is one of the available languages supported by Apple's Translation API. No manual action is needed for info card translations.
Troubleshooting: Translations Not Appearing
- Check that 'Hide Translations' is toggled off:
- Open Athlytic → More tab → Units and Language Preferences → toggle 'Hide Translations' off.
- Ensure your device is running iOS 18 or later, as Apple’s Translation API requires this version.
- Confirm your iPhone’s default language is set to a supported language.
- Open Settings → General → Language & Region → Preferred Language Order
- Make sure your preferred language is downloaded in Apple’s Translate settings:
- Open Settings → Apps → Translate.
- Go to Downloaded Languages and select your language.
