Why Was I Charged for a Subscription During My Free Trial?
If you were charged for a subscription when you thought you were on a free trial, there are a few reasons this may have happened. Apple handles all subscriptions and billing, and developers do not have access to your payment information or the ability to issue refunds.
Was the Charge a Pending Authorization Hold?
Apple may place a temporary authorization hold on your payment method to verify it is valid.
- This is not an actual charge—it should disappear automatically if you cancel the trial before it ends.
- If you don’t cancel before the trial expires, the charge will go through as a regular subscription payment.
- To avoid being charged, we suggest canceling at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
Have You Used a Free Trial Before?
Apple only allows one free trial per subscription per Apple ID. If you previously used a free trial and later resubscribed, you will be charged immediately, as another trial is not available.
How to check:
- If the button says “Redeem Free Week”, a free trial is available.
- If the button says “Upgrade to Athlytic Pro”, your trial has already been used.
How to Cancel Your Subscription
To avoid further charges, cancel your subscription:
- Open the App Store.
- Tap your profile icon (top right).
- Select Subscriptions.
- Find Athlytic and tap Cancel Subscription.
