Incorrect or Missing Sleep Data in Athlytic
Athlytic is not a sleep tracker—it reads sleep data recorded by your Apple Watch or another app/device that syncs with Apple Health. If your sleep time seems incorrect, missing, or different in Athlytic, the issue is likely related to how your sleep data is being recorded and saved into Apple Health.
Step 1: Check If Sleep Data is Being Recorded in Apple Health
To confirm that your Apple Watch (or another app) is properly saving sleep data:
- Open the Apple Health app (white icon with a heart).
- Tap Browse → Sleep.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Show All Data.
Important:
- DO NOT rely on Apple Health’s Sleep Chart—it does not show all sleep samples.
- Make sure you see Sleep Stage data (REM, Core, and Deep). Athlytic relies on these sleep stages to calculate your Sleep Quality.

Step 2: Verify Your Sleep Tracking Setup
If Sleep Stages (REM, Core, Deep) are missing, your Apple Watch may not be set up properly for sleep tracking.
To enable Apple’s native Sleep Tracking:
- Follow Apple’s official guide: Set Up Sleep Tracking on Apple Watch.
- Ensure your Apple Watch is worn consistently during sleep.
- After waking up, turn off Sleep Mode manually (especially if you wake up before your alarm).
If Using a Third-Party Sleep App or Wearable
✔️ Verify that it syncs sleep data to Apple Health by checking your raw sleep data in Apple Health → Sleep → Show All Data.
✔️ In Athlytic, set it as your “Preferred Sleep Tracker” (Apple Watch is the default).
✔️ Always open your sleep tracking app first so it can sync data to Apple Health before opening Athlytic to ensure accurate Sleep Quality calculations.
Recommendation: We suggest using Apple Watch’s native Sleep Tracking since it includes Sleep Stages, which Athlytic relies on for better Sleep Quality insights.
Step 3: Turn Off Sleep Mode After Waking Up
If using Apple Sleep Tracking, it’s important to turn off Sleep Mode when you wake up—especially if you wake up before your alarm. If you do not turn off Sleep Mode, your sleep data may not appear in Apple Health until later in the morning.
Manually Adding Sleep to Apple Health
If you need to manually add sleep data to Apple Health:
- Open the Apple Health app → Tap Browse → Sleep.
- Tap Add Data (top right).
- Label the sleep sample as “Core” (not “Asleep”).
- Save the entry.
Why Core? Apple now tracks sleep outside of Sleep Stages as “Asleep”, which is used for naps. Labeling it as Core ensures it aligns with your primary sleep data.
Apple Watch Series 3 Users – Sleep Data Missing After iOS 18 & watchOS 11
If you have an Apple Watch Series 3, you may experience sleep tracking issues after Athlytic’s update for watchOS 11 and iOS 18.
Why?
- Apple dropped support for the Series 3 in 2022.
- Athlytic now uses Apple’s Sleep Stages (REM, Core, Deep), introduced in watchOS 9—which Series 3 does not support.
- The new system labels sleep outside of Sleep Stages as “Asleep,” affecting how naps and total sleep are recorded.
Workarounds for Series 3 Users
- Some users have reported success using AutoSleep as their preferred sleep tracker in Athlytic.
- Open Apple Health → Sleep → Show All Data to check how your sleep is being recorded.
