Apple Health Shows More Sleep Than Athlytic

A common question users ask is why their total sleep time in Apple Health appears different from what Athlytic reports.

This happens because the Apple Health app “stitches together” sleep data from multiple sources, including:

✔️ Apple Watch Sleep Tracking

✔️ Third-party sleep apps (e.g., AutoSleep, Pillow, Oura, etc.)

✔️ Manually added sleep entries

Since Apple Health combines sleep data from these multiple sources, it often displays a higher total sleep time than Athlytic.

Unlike Apple Health, Athlytic only uses sleep data from your selected Preferred Sleep Tracker in settings (Apple Watch is the default). We obtain this data from your raw sleep data in Apple Health.

To view your raw sleep data:

  1. Open the Apple Health app (white icon with a heart).
  2. Tap Browse (bottom right).
  3. Select Sleep.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and tap Show All Data.
